The Vintage Motorcycle Club’s founder, Charles Edmund “Titch” Allen passed away on 18 March 2010.Born in May 1915 he spent most of his life involved with motorcycles, founding the Vintage Motorcycle club in 1946. On 28 April of that year, after lunch in a cafe on the A31 Hogs back near Guildford in Surrey, 'Titch', took the chair and outlined his ideas. His main objective was to promote the use and preservation of 'Vintage' machines and from his vision the Vintage Motor Cycle Club was formed.
On Sunday 2 May 2010 thousands of motorcyclists will mark that event, and this year pay tribute to this great man who contributed so much to our motorcycling heritage, by taking part in a memorial run featuring checkpoints all over the country.
A Memorial Event will be held at Mallory Park on 18 May 2010. In announcing the event Titch’s son Steve said “In remembrance of the many happy times that Dad spent at the circuit there will be a parade of bikes and vehicles around the track before the service at Kirby Mallory church. I would be especially pleased if anyone who currently owns a machine that was once owned by my father or has any special connection or memory associated with him could bring the bike along to be part of the parade”.
