Bid for F1 Confirmed

Its five years since private equity firm CVC took control of F1 and yesterday, 3 May 2011 they confirmed that they had been contacted by EXOR, an organisation backed by Newscorp with links to ferrari. As is customary in these situations CVC issued a statement of confirmation but stated that the company was not for sale.
There has been speculation for a while including statements from Bernie Eclestone who runs F1 on behalf of CVC denying there had been an approach.
Let's hope that continued speculation about the future of the sport does not detract from what is turning out to be a classic season.

Rossi the man most likely to...

Valentino Rossi continues to tease fans with regular outings on four wheels. Rossi’s has been seen in WRC cars and a test with Ferrari in November 2008 resulted in a total of 51 laps of the Mugello test circuit with a time which was better than Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer.

Rossi is the only man alive who could come close to equalling John Surtees in becoming a world champion on two and four wheels. John Surtees remains a true legend of motorsport. Like Rossi he started on bikes becoming world champion in 1955 on an MV Augusta. After claiming world titles in both 350cc and 500cc events he was in demand by Ken Tyrell and Colin Chapman and in 1960 he was racing both bikes and cars. In 1964 he became f1 world champion driving for Ferrari claiming his eighth world championship title. John Surtees continues to be close to motorsport, supporting the A1 Grand Prix series.

Rossi continues to have regular outings in both Ferrari F1 and Rally cars. Ferrari team principle Stefano Domenicali says he would like to see Rossi in F1, whilst Rossis own preference seems to be the Rally option. Either that or he is staring his own bidding war!

Rossi does however have the best website!
